The
company has always sought to build strong relationships
with its customers. Often these have led to repeat
business won either in open competition or following
negotiation.
The readiness of clients to consider such ventures with us
demonstrates the high regard in which we are held, a
position gained through hard work and determination and
exemplified by a track record of expertise, quality and
integrity. Partnering provides the client, design team
and contractor with a framework which enables them to
work together in a constructive and helpful manner to
produce better buildings more quickly and
economically.
In
Taunton we have completed the construction of a
major classroom block for The Castle School. This
project needed an exceptionally quick start to allow
completion in time for the Autumn Term 2003 and this was
achieved through the partnering
approach.
Following
on from this project we secured a further partnering
contract with Somerset County Council to construct a
classroom block at Chilton Trinity Technology
College in Bridgwater. Reforming the
successful team from the Castle School project we were
able to hand over the new building five weeks ahead of
schedule.
In
Bristol we worked closely with the Children's
Scrapstore team to convert a
redundant 1970's industrial building into a centre
dedicated to providing a home for a number of
child-centred organisations.
Working
with new client Torbay Council on their Paignton
Community College Library scheme we assisted in the
cost engineering exercise advising on feasibility issues
before constructing the building.
Recently
completed in Taunton is a partnering project with
Taunton and Somerset NHS Trust. In this scheme we
created a dedicated education centre (Somerset Academy)
where medical and nursing skills are taught in a
simulated ward.
Three new schemes being undertaken
through the partnering route are the Netham Park
Pavilion for Bristol City Council, the
Ashcombe Children’s Centre in Weston-super-Mare for
North Somerset Council and the
conversion of a large house into flats in
Weston-super-Mare.
All
of these ventures have been won against stiff opposition
from other (and often much larger) contractors. Each
time the message comes back that our openness,
competence, can-do approach and track record win the
day.
